The starting point for all good therapy is the rapport between therapist and client, so the first appointment will establish if you have found the right person for you. It is necessary for both to feel comfortable before any further exploration.
I have worked in private practice for the past 20 years as a hypnotherapist, counsellor and stress manager and use a combination of my experience and skills to resolve problems.
I deal with a variety of problems, ranging from:
- anger issues
- abuse (emotional, mental and sexual)
- and all types of life stresses i.e.; work, anxiety family, insomnia etc.
My speciality is working with men and their relationships. Solutions lie in examining the original causes, which usually lies in the past, or a particular trauma which has been buried or forgotten. Having found the underlying cause, and having established the coping behaviour patterns that have developed, we can work together to reduce symptoms, change patterns and and develop a deeper understanding of how we got there in the first place, putting you back in control of your life. Success rates are high.
How I work
I work primarily as a counsellor / psychologist, using hypnotherapy as a tool for change. It is a powerful combination, speeding up the normal process of counselling.
Hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness. When relaxed your level of consciousness changes and brainwaves slow down, causing the conscious mind to be less dominant, allowing the sub-conscious mind to become more accessible. When the conscious and sub-conscious merge together it is easier to influence the sub-conscious with positive and appropriate messages. When repeated sufficiently, new neurons will be established in the brain, which become more dominant each time the message is heard.
Following the first session I always discuss how we will progress, and discuss follow up sessions, frequency etc., but always like the clients to be the ones to decide how many sessions they wish to attend.
