What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a personalised therapeutic interaction to bring about lasting change and overcome obstacles, difficulties and discomfort in life. What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural focused state of the human mind that we all enter into at different times during a day, for example, when we daydream, read a book we love, listen to music or get absorbed in a task. The physical feeling of hypnosis is of relaxation while the mind is in a focused, absorbed state and the senses more perceptive. At this time your mind is able to become focused and absorbed on the new ideas, perspectives and possibilities that lead to change.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is the ideal way of meeting one another and discussing the reason for you wanting to come. During the session, you will be able to describe the situation that you would like assistance with thoroughly and I will go through some information on how we might work together in partnership to find solutions and create lasting change. You can then make a decision if you would like to continue with the process. We can also discuss the number of sessions you would be likely to need. My aim is to help you through your issue as quickly as possible.
Training, qualifications & experience
Paula has a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis & Strategic Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Applied Clinical Hypnotherapy (Dip.C.H.t.) and a Certificate of Hypnosis.
She is a Senior Practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register (G.H.R. Reg.) and holds the Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (S.Q.H.P.). She is also an Acknowledged Supervisor with the General Hypnotherapy Register, providing one to one supervision for other psychotherapists. She is also registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (C.N.H.C.).
Paula is committed to enhancing and updating her skills and regularly participates in trainings and clinical supervision with Dr Michael Yapko, PhD, internationally known psychologist and contributor to the field of Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnosis.

I am a middle aged woman, I initially consulted Paula for anxiety symptoms during public speaking; my overall goal was to feel more serene and less anxious about the “small things” in my life. Of course, the journey of self discovery is never as simple as this however it was very rewarding. Paula outlined up front how long she thought we would need to work together, this gave me confidence that there was light at the end of the tunnel, we had a goal and I was not going to have years of therapy!

I went to Paula last April to take my son for his first session and I ended up getting an appointment with her the following week. Working with Paula for 2 months has meant a lot of changes and shifting of my limiting beliefs. We worked on my childhood and quickly moved to the present. She made me realise that I am the most important person in my life and for me to be able to continue giving to others I have to ‘acknowledge & give thanks’ to myself. I also have to nurture and appreciate myself more.
