About me

Paul Hughes: Distinction graduate, national award winner, hypnotherapist / psychotherapist and a child and adolescent counsellor.

I am presently helping people to achieve their goals in Reading, Oxford, Wallingford and Thame.

Stop telling yourself you can't change.
Imagine how good you'll feel when you do.
Call and find out how I can help make it happen.

I don't know what you wish to achieve but I already know you can do it. You really can and I’m looking forward to helping you. You may not know it, yet, but you already have everything you need to achieve the things you wish for. I can help you to see your strengths and I can help you to use them. I can help you to leave your problems behind you, where they belong, for good!

If you'd like the help of a warm, experienced and highly trained therapist then please read on.

Hypnotherapy can help you to make positive changes to your life.
Hypnotherapy can help you to feel better and more confident about yourself..
Hypnotherapy can help you leave the past behind.
Hypnotherapy can help you to move on towards a happier 2015.

I'd like to help you achieve these goals.

Wouldn't these things be worth the price of a single 'phone call? You could take the first step today and give me a call in order to discover whether I could be the right therapist for you. If you don't then think I am I'd be glad to recommend others who could be. It's important that you find the best therapist for you.

I love what I do because I love seeing people achieve their goals. I love what I do so much that I now train others to do the same. I’m a trainer and academic assessor for the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, one of the foremost training organisations in the country. The people who trained me had enough confidence in me to ask me to train future generations of therapists in my turn. I’m happy to do it because I enjoy the experience and because I think that people like you deserve to be seen by ethical and well-trained hypnotherapists. You deserve the best.

Beginning therapy can seem a daunting prospect. It really needn’t be. A good hypnotherapist will help you feel as comfortable as possible in talking about the things which trouble you. Don’t put up with your problems any longer, call me today and we’ll begin to to work things through.

You should feel comfortable with the person you choose as your hypnotherapist.

Call me on 07786 123736, 01183 280284 or 01865 600970 and we can get to know each other a little bit, before arranging to meet in person. I believe you'll find me to be a warm, professional and caring person and research shows that the relationship between client and therapist is extremely important. I provide hypnotherapy to people in Reading, Wallingford and Oxford. So, wherever you live in Oxfordshire or Berkshire, I’m bound to have an office close enough to you.

My clients are all such wonderful people. They may not see it. You may not see it, yet, but I can see people’s strengths. I spy their fine qualities and show people how they’re already everything they need to be in order to feel better about themselves. You already have everything you need in order to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. Whatever the problem may be, you can be rid of it.

I will help you to see your strengths and it’s this which will give you the confidence to achieve the things you want and need to happen. When we’re done you will have learned to become your own therapist. Not only will you have resolved issue “A,” you will also be better able to deal with issues “B, C and D,” should such issues ever arise in the future.Whether you’re stressed, depressed, suffering from low self-esteem, IBS, chronic pain, phobias or trapped within an addictive behaviour, hypnotherapists can help.

Perhaps you'd now like to give me a call so that we can discuss these things in more detail. I'll be more than happy to talk with you.

Best wishes

Paul

My Specialism

I am trained as a general hypno-psychotherapist. This means that I combine hypnotherapy with other psychotherapeutic interventions as and when appropriate. Many things can be resolved using hypnotherapy alone. Others can be best helped through a combination of hypnotherapy, counselling and psychotherapy. being trained in these three disciplines means I can vary my approach to suit your requirements.

I love working with all of my clients. I find myself becoming, however, particularly busy in working with clients with Asperger's Syndrome / High functioning autism. My eldest daughter is an aspie and it seemed, from my very first days in practice, that I attracted an unusually large number of aspies looking for help. Hypnotherapy is perfectly well suited to helping clients with Asperger's. Do give me a call and we'll discuss how I can help you.

I also work with lots of people who suffered abuse as children and who feel its consequences in adulthood. I can help you to move beyond such experiences and to leave its damaging effects behind you.

I also, of course, see people for a wide variety of other problems. Give me a call and perhaps you won't have that problem for very much longer. Wouldn't that be great!?

My training

I chose to train with the NCHP because their training is accredited by UKCP. The NCHP and UKCP work together to press the government to regulate the psychotherapy profession. They and I believe that the public needs and deserves high quality therapy.

I won two national awards whilst training with the NCHP. I took my training very seriously and worked hard to qualify with a Distinction. I still work hard to increase my skills and knowledge. I now help in training future NCHP hypnotherapists and assessing their written work. You can be sure that I will work equally hard in order to help you.

Since finishing my formal training I have continued to attend courses in order to improve my skills and knowledge. Recent courses include certified training on PTSD, Fertility, Tinnitus and Pain management. I have also attended training on psychotherapy and Asperger's Syndrome, courtesy of Autism Oxford.

Choosing your therapist

I know that choosing a therapist can be a difficult decision. Going for therapy can be daunting too. I’d advise you, once you’re confident of the therapist’s qualifications, to go with your instincts. Do you feel as if the therapist will understand you? Do you feel as if you could build a good relationship with this person? Do you feel comfortable?

Please call me on 07786 123736 or 01865 600970 and you can decide those things for yourself, for free. We’ll discuss whatever it is which brings you looking for therapy and then, if you’re happy to, we can discuss meeting up and starting work.

I hope to hear from you soon and look forward to working with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in hypno-psychotherapy (Distinction) from the NCHP and am UKCP accredited. Very, very few hypnotherapy training courses come anywhere near being good enough to receive UKCP accreditation. I took that extra mile because I believe that my clients deserve the very best possible therapy.

I received the Beilby Prize and Founders award whilst training so you can be sure that I am highly trained and ethical. The NCHP and UKCP are among the very few organisations which campaign for the psychotherapy profession to be regulated. We want the profession to be regulated in order that our clients can be sure they are receiving the best possible therapy.

I am also a qualified Child and Adolescent Counsellor and am halfway to an MA in child and adolescent psychotherapy. I have found that combining my prior training with newer play based skills is proving to be a potent mix for child and adolescent clients.

I also belong to the CNHC, a body which regulates the complementary health "industry." The NHS recommends that people should only consult with those therapists who belong to this body.

I also belong to the UKCP, which - as described above - is equal to BACP in being at the pinnacle of respectability of UK regulatory bodies.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

I specialise in helping those with Asperger's Syndrome and people who suffered emotional abuse whilst children. I am also the therapist of choice for Oxford hospitals looking for hypnotherapists who are able to work with tinnitus.

Fees

Additional information

I'm not the cheapest therapist in Reading. They say that we get what we pay for and what you'd get is a result of the longest and most thorough training available. Four years of training isn't cheap! I charge £70 per hour, though reduced fees are available for those who are on low incomes, students or under 18 years of age. No matter what your circumstances may be, do give me a call. I believe that income shouldn't stand in the way of therapy. Those on low incomes deserve to be free of their problems as much as do those with a little more money to spare.

For smokers I work to a two session model and charge £170 for both together. You are also welcome to a free follow-up session. Only one client has ever needed one.

How much would you pay to be rid of your problem? You're worth every penny.

When I work

Availability can vary according to demand at local centres but I am available during daytimes, evenings and weekends.

Further information

I once had hypnotherapy for smoking. It worked like a charm. I also, some years ago, underwent a little counselling. I found it amazingly effective. It was these experiences which led, eventually, to my decision to begin training. I wanted to be able to help others as I had, myself, been helped. This is how I can be sure that hypnotherapy and hypno-psychotherapy can be so effective.

I am now a qualified Child and Adolescent Counsellor. Please take a look at www.resolvedcounsellingforchildren.com for more details
