About me

I am a full-time, solution focused hypnotherapist as well as a trained counsellor, and have worked with hundreds of clients over the years.

Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues, using a robust, evidence-based approach helping you to achieve significant changes quickly. It focuses on what you want, rather than what you don't want; the positives in your life instead of the problems; the future rather than the past. When we focus on our problems, they tend to grow and overwhelm us. Hypnotherapy helps switch your focus towards solutions and set small manageable goals towards change.

During our first consultation,we talk about how the primitive part of our brain can influence our thoughts and behaviour and cause us to build up unhelpful patterns, habits or addictions, as well as simple ways you can help yourself to feel better and more in control, right from the start.

Sessions comprise of talking therapy, where we discuss your preferred future, and hypnosis (or trance), a state of focused concentration, which encourages the brain to form new neural pathways and desirable habits and patterns.

Trance is a surprisingly normal experience. We all go in and out of trance several times a day, like those moments when you drift off whilst watching tv. You are fully in control.

Although it's not possible to say how many sessions you might need, many people find themselves making significant changes in a few weeks.

In addition to my practices in Stroud and Cirencester, I work as a hypnotherapist for The Haven Breast Cancer Support Centre in Worcester Hospital.

I am currently seeing all clients online using Zoom - an easy to access video connection.

Some comments clients have made include:
"I came away from each session feeling so much more positive and that there was indeed a light at the end of the tunnel"

"Hypnotherapy with Michèle is a real investment in your self and the tools that she gives you keep on giving for months afterwards. It changes the way you approach stressful situations and enables you to be better emotionally equipped in so many ways".

"I’ve been an insomniac for most my adult life. At the end of the (first) session Michele handed me a CD and conveyed the importance of getting into a nightly routine. That night I fell asleep listening to the sound of her voice gently helping me to relax and let go. From that very first session I slept better. Taking action has been the best thing I’ve done and I’m incredibly grateful to Michele"

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as my DHP (Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy), and the gold standard HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma), I hold qualifications in counselling, health promotion, and a masters degree. I am committed to frequent continuous professional development events as well as regular supervision, keeping up to date with current research and advances in the field.

I have worked for over thirty years with people in the caring professions, in the NHS and the not for profit sector, as a counsellor, a trainer and researcher. Over the past 5 years I have developed expertise around weight management and have particular interests in:

  • weight loss
  • addictions
  • stopping smoking
  • anxiety
  • fears and phobias
  • relationship issues
  • loss and bereavement
  • confidence issues.
  • Working with people affected by breast cancer

I trained as a hypnotherapist after experiencing how hypnotherapy helped me to make changes in my own life. I had one of those "light-bulb" moments when I realised that this is what I wanted to help others to do too. There is nothing more exciting than seeing people gain the confidence and motivation to make the changes they wish for and turning their lives around.

I trained at the renowned Clifton Practice in Bristol, a recognised centre of excellence for Solution Focused hypnotherapy, which ensures its graduates have a full grounding in practice as well as theory. I have also had additional training in hypnobirthing and working with children and hold an up to date DBS certificate.

Solution focused hypnotherapy is based on sound evidence and neuroscientific research and can help you achieve change within a relatively short timeframe.
