I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist through the Internationally renowned London College of Clinical Hypnosis (now in partnership with the University of West London). Adding a Diploma a year later, and the Practitioner Diploma two years after that.
I am an integrative practitioner and employ C.B.T.; Mindfulness; EMDR and other talk counselling skills in my practice. In addition to my private work, I have worked as a volunteer with the organisation 'Crisis', as resident clinical hypnotherapist for three years. While working there, I treated clients of all ages, from G.P NHS referrals. People came to me after exhausting all the medical alternatives.
Apart from the Crisis experience, I have been in private practice for a number of years and have experience of a wide spectrum of clients, of all ages and backgrounds. I also work for Private Healthcare and Insurance agencies. In addition,I am a clinical hypnotherapist and Psychological therapist for the renowned organisation First Psychology, based at their Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee ( soon to be Perth also) therapy centres.
I am skilled in all areas of clinical hypnotherapy, the following in particular:
- pain management
- stress and anxiety reduction
- self esteem issues
- addiction problems
- post traumatic stress (P.S.T.D)
- smoking cessation
- sleep and insomnia issues
- anger management
- work and personal issues.
- Panic Attacks
"I first contacted Mike as I was seeking a solution for stress and anxiety caused by noisy neighbours. I confess I was a bit sceptical before our first meeting but as soon as I met Mike I realised how wrong I had been. He is a very kind man with an exceptional ability to get to the root of a problem in no time at all.
The hypnotherapy itself has helped me enormously and I am now able to "switch off" from the noise which previously had me so uptight. However the hypnotherapy itself is only part of the superb service that Mike offers. In each session, before he induced the hypnotic state Mike asked relevant questions about me and my life and he helped me to understand why I get upset by the noise from the neighbours and through listening so very carefully to everything I said he also helped me to come to terms with the recent death of a good friend which up until I spoke with Mike about it I had not been dealing with very well at all.
Thanks to Mike my quality of life is now vastly improved. I have a better understanding of my own feelings and am using the techniques Mike taught me to relax when I do start to feel anxious.
I would recommend that anyone who has ever considered hypnotherapy should contact Mike Cormack. I don't think you'll be disappointed." C.R - Glasgow
"I went to see Mike feeling pretty desperate, my eating was out of control and I craved (and ate) sweet things all the time. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but thought it would be just a hypnotherapy session, but to my surprise there is more to it. Not just a hypnotherapy session, but trying, and succeeding to find out what was going on in my head and why I overate.
By the end of the first session I was feeling better about my situation and thought there was some light at the end of the tunnel and although the following week I was still overeating, my sweet tooth had disappeared. In the following sessions Mike worked with me to find out the reasons behind my over eating and, for me, some surprising things came to light. By the time my sessions with Mike ended I was feeling a lot better about myself, my confidence had increased and my eating is under control, and I am loosing weight. It wasn't a "quick fix" by any means and at times pretty emotional for me, but worth it.
Mike is a wonderful therapist, very caring and understanding and I always felt as if he was going that extra mile to help me. The hypnotherapy is very soothing and relaxing and the CD that he gave me to listen to at home helped me to relax as well as reinforcing the sessions. I would recommend Mike for any one who is looking for a therapist, or thinking about one no matter what their particular need is. " E.M - Dumbarton
