Maureen Parnaby BA. Hons, MSW, Dip HPsych.Licensed Hypno-Band Practitioner
I am interested in addressing the inner conflicts and limiting beliefs, often originating in childhood experiences, that may underpin problems such as weight, anxiety, phobias, smoking and other unwanted habits, and can exacerbate chronic and enduring health conditions such as IBS, migraine and ME/CFS.
I also work with adults struggling with problems rooted in the particularly sensitive issues of childhood physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect.
Having a son in the military who has been on operational tours of duty, an additional area of interest is with the military experiencing post operational stress and adjustment issues and moderate PTSD and with relatives suffering stress related symptoms.
I am interested in building resilience and as my approach is client-led and solution-focused I tailor my approach to the client's needs.
I am a Licensed Hypno-Band Practitioner. Although there are some health related exclusions this is usually suitable for most with a BMI over 25. This method also addresses the emotional and psychological roots of over-eating and combines CBT and hypnotherapy to assist in weight loss.
I am also interested in a preventative, stress management approach to emotional health and psychological well-being, particularly for workers involved in child protection work, so offer 2 x 2 hours small group coaching sessions as well as individualised therapy to this group.
I also offer 'Kick start' 2 x 2 hours small group weight management short coaching course for those wishing to address their weight.

Often when we look for someone to help us, such as a therapist or healer, we want to know that they are qualified to do what they do and that they do it well. We also want to know that we will feel comfortable with them, can trust them, will not be judged and that they will keep everything confidential. I believe I offer all this to my clients.
My background is in health, counselling and therapy and in child abuse social work. Although I am deeply understanding of the ways damaging childhood experiences can shape us I am confident that we can change how we think and feel about these experiences.
I am also interested in the Mind-Body-Spirit Link and although no longer offer these have trained in spiritual healing and in Reiki. As a complementary therapist, I believe a holistic approach to the individual includes the client taking responsibility for the choices they make and harness their motivation to address their issues through tasking and homework.
I am aware that in economically challenging times alternatives to therapy through a more self-help, coaching approach to weight and stress is a valuable contribution to the complementary therapy field.
