Hypnosis is often likened to being in a day dream, where you are fully conscious but somewhat unaware of things and people around you and if you needed to be fully aware you would become so immediately. This is a light state of hypnosis and so you can see that it happens to most of us naturally on a daily basis.
Hypnotherapy is when you are guided by the therapist to achieve a very relaxed state which in turn allows you to be receptive to positive suggestion. The therapist works ethically and sensitively to allow you to gain the change you desire.
No one experience will be like another, it is a very individual thing, however most people find hypnosis a very pleasant experience. Clients leave the session feeling relaxed, calm and focused. It is important to remember that you are always in control.
What can I expect in a hypnotherapy session?
You can expect to make positive changes in the way you think and behave. Your willingness to engage in the process is the most important thing. Henry Ford famously said "Whether you think you can or think you can't, either way you're right." Believing in the process is key to achieving your goals.You will be guided by the voice of the therapist who is trained in the art of facilitating positive change in a client.
How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?
It may be that a client needs four to six sessions to create lasting change. Some clients can achieve their goals in just one session. It is a very individual thing.

How does it work?
Coaching is conversational change. The role of the coach is to assist the coachee to find their own solutions to problems or to achieve goals through conversation. How Kate became a Life Coach and Hypnotherapist
After 32 years as a Registered General Nurse Kate decided to take a course in Neuro Linguistic Programming after having visited a Hypnotherapist herself. She found it so useful and empowering that she went on to do the Practitioner Course. Life was beginning to change positively for her as a direct result of 'practising what she preached' using NLP, and led to the introduction of hypnosis. Kate felt she had a natural affinity for delivering hypnotherapy. She also felt that NLP and Hypnotherapy needed to be taught together and so found a course offering both and continued her studies in the glorious Highlands of Scotland. On her return to Devon she decided that the way forward for her was to embark on a life of helping others through coaching and hypnosis.
Until recently Kate worked as a Primary Care Nurse and is still up to date with current practice and understanding of health issues such as obesity, anxiety, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease which help support her work as a therapist In these areas. Her aim is to continually be delivering a professional, confidential, client focused service.
Individual clients can be seen in Exeter, Bovey Tracey and Teignmouth. Kate also offers Skype sessions.
