Welcome! I'm an experienced Hypnotherapist and Mindfulness Meditation Practitioner, with a Masters level degree in psychology. I have an established hypnotherapy practice here in Horley, Surrey, and am keen to help you to attain your goals.
I'm a client centred hypnotherapist, which means that I start with getting to know you, your issues and goals. I see it as my job to help you to build your resources and focus on your goals, to help you move forward as quickly as possible. I'm trained in a number of different techniques alongside Hypnotherapy: Mindfulness Meditation, NLP, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
I have over 6 years of experience in helping many people with a very wide range of issues, varying from stopping smoking; losing weight and changing diet; addictions and habits (e.g. alcohol, drugs): overcoming depression; overcoming fears and phobias; overcoming anxiety/panic and performance anxiety and so on.
I also offer eight-week mindfulness meditation courses and also provide one to one sessions.

I have always been passionate about understanding the human mind and how to help people to improve their well-being. I gained my Degree in Psychology and Sociology in 1992, and went on to study an MSc in Health Psychology. I then embarked on a career in social/ health research and analyst posts within the NHS and Department of Health, but felt unfulfilled.
I discovered the benefits of hypnotherapy after seeking treatment myself, so trained and began to work as a full time Hypnotherapist in 2011. A couple of years later I trained to be a Mindfuness practitioner, as I had been practising for many years and was keen to teach others the benefits.

The 8 week mindfulness meditation course is based upon the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by The Founder of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, which is based upon work by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
The course is designed to help anyone looking to enhance their emotional well-being, not just those with conditions such as anxiety or depression etc.I aim to make it both fun and informative, and you are able to share experiences (if you wish) and ask questions

£160 for stop smoking sessions (this is a one-off two-hour session with free return within a month)
Children: £55 for half an hour, £60 for 45 minutes and £65 for an hour.

I had been terrified of wasps for years but always just put up with it even if that meant not sitting in my own garden if wasps were about. When I had my daughter last year I didn't want to pass my fear onto her and the final straw came when I nearly ran in front of a car to escape a wasp. I had not tried hypnotherapy before and to be honest was a little sceptical. I'm delighted I did though, as it has worked brilliantly and I am no longer terrified. It means I can sit in my garden without being chased out and I no longer scream involuntarily whenever I see or hear one (which was very annoying for everyone around me!). I also felt really happy and relaxed the next day and as if a weight had been lifted. I was free again. Amazing and fast results. Thank you Maria for reducing my fear and giving me confidence again!
