My name is Liz and I am a qualified practicing clinical hypnotherapist. I am also registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)
I have always been fascinated by the connection between the mind and the body and as a result sort help from hypnotherapy some years ago. The difference a simple treatment made to me changed my life so much that I decided to train to become a hypnotherapist myself.
Having realised the benefits first hand I have gone on to experience the huge rewards of being able to help other people make changes to improve their life.
Hypnotherapy is an entirely holistic approach and each session is tailored uniquely for the individual and for that particular time in their life. As individuals we are constantly changing and growing and hypnotherapy is completely in tune with that path and is completely adaptable for most situations, problems or conditions. I have a particular interest in assisting child birth and the period straight after birth which can often seem stressful to new parents but this led me on to work with more generalised anxiety which I have found produces some great results. More recently I have developed an interest in working with cancer patients, and autoimmune disorders, offering some ease, pain relief and comfort with various aspects of these cruel diseases and their various treatments.

Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with
I started out with a particular interest in working with pregnant women and new mothers to help with childbirth and those early weeks of parenthood that can be so daunting. I feel very strongly that hypnotherapy can help with not only the discomfort of labour and birth but also the anxiety that goes with learning how to be a parent. This can be a stressful time for new parents with everyone short on sleep and a new baby to get to know. Hypnotherapy is perfect for helping with those issues by giving the parents a sense of calmness and confidence which of course ensures a happy baby. During my time working and training I began to see just how beneficial hypnotherapy is to anxiety, and how quickly big results can be obtained.

Myself and my husband came to see Liz for a Hypnobirthing course ahead of the birth of our first baby. It was amazing- we both gained so much confidence about the birth and it was lovely to take time out during the pregnancy to relax entirely and see Liz. When it came time for birth Liz's techniques and more importantly her CD she made for us kept me really calm and let me get some sleep in between contractions over the 4 day labour! It was so important to me to keep some control and Hypnobirthing with Liz allowed me this at the most important time of or lives. I can't thank her enough for that.
I was afraid of flying and Liz had worked miracles with a friend of mine so I thought I would give it a go. It was a lovely relaxing experience and Liz put me at ease straight away. Even after one session it definitely helped me. I wouldn't say my fear has completely gone but I feel I deal with flying so much better now and found my last trip aboard so much more enjoyable. I used to dread the couple of days in the run up to a holiday as hated the thought of getting on a flight and the last time I went away I had none of that on the flight itself I felt much more calm and able to control any feelings of fear that did arise. For those that know me well, you will know just how absolutely petrified I was of spiders, well tonight I managed to handle a spider situation all by myself, not killing, but putting one in a glass and throwing it outside! All thanks to a couple of fantastic hypnotherapy sessions with the wonderful Liz Hargreaves. I never even imagined being able to do this! If you have any obstacles in your life you have difficulty tackling then I 100% recommend this fabulous lady. I'm sure my friends will be overjoyed at not receiving rescue calls late at night from now on!

The first session will be for consultation for which there is no fee and completely obligation free. This is because it is important that you are comfortable and at ease with me before committing to a booking. Many issues can be dealt with fairly quickly but I always recommend at least 2 sessions for those who have never had hypnotherapy before to really allow the client to gain the most benefit. A session will be £65, however multiple sessions will be discounted and we can discuss this at the consultation. Smoking cessation and weight loss are priced seperately.

Many misconceptions exist about the Hypnotic state and if you are wondering what it is like to be hypnotised, it is a little like daydreaming or become so absorbed in a book or a film that you are completely oblivious to everything else. In fact we all drift in and out of hypnosis several times a day without even realising it. And just like those moments of daydreaming or becoming absorbed, should anything happen that requires urgent attention you will “snap out” of the trance state and be instantly alert and able to deal with any situation. You, the client, are always in control. And the beauty of hypnosis is that it is completely natural and safe.
In hypnosis the subconscious mind is address while the conscious mind is resting thereby allowing the suggestions to be accepted subconsciously without criticism. The subconscious part of our mind it where our “programming” is and it is these “programs” that often create the behaviours we are trying to change.
