About me

kim%20dyke%20logo.jpg

I am a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapy Supervisor based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.  I was a Senior Lecturer for Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, Bournemouth where I taught the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma Course (HPD)

I combine Hypnotherapy with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to help my clients overcome a range of issues and offer a professional and caring approach to my practice. I attend frequent supervision sessions, courses and workshops to keep up to date and increase my knowledge base.

I have become one of the first in the country to achieve a new national standard of excellence for my therapy, having been registered by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare.

This recognition places me at the forefront of a national drive to provide a benchmark for standards and safety for the public. Practitioners registered with the CNHC meet national occupational standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, performance and ethics.

Training, qualifications & experience

In 2006 I trained for two years with Chrysalis, gaining Diplomas in Hypnotherapy and Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have continued my professional development through The Clifton Practice in Bristol, one of the foremost Hypnotherapy training centres in the UK and a recognised centre of Hypnotherapy excellence, gaining the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), considered to be the 'Gold Standard in Hypnotherapy qualifications.  I have also gained Diplomas in Solution Focused Brief Therapy Skills and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills and have attended various seminars and workshops, including Self-Hypnosis for Childbirth and The Impact of Hypnosis on Pain and Disease.

I have gained the Accredited Level 5 Hypnotherapy Supervisor Qualification and offer help and support to other Hypnotherapists through my knowledge and experience, further promoting Hypnotherapy and its many benefits.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and a member of the NCH, National Hypnotherapy Society, and the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists (AfSFH), abiding by their strict code of Standards and Ethics.  I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Hypnotherapy Society
National Hypnotherapy Society (Hypnotherapy Society)

The Society seeks to contribute to public wellbeing both through the use of hypnotherapy and by ensuring that hypnotherapists are safe, competent and ethical in practice.

Additional information

I offer an initial consultation lasting an hour and 30 minutes which serves a number of purposes: it gives you the opportunity to explain why you are seeking help, and enables me to assess whether hypnotherapy can help you. It allows us to build rapport and to decide whether we would like to work together.

After taking some basic details and asking about your issue, I explain the workings of the brain with regards to your particular situation and how, if our subconscious mind perceives a threat to our wellbeing, it can have an unhelpful effect on our thoughts and behaviours; most people find this explanation enlightening.

I explain the process of hypnosis, which is a much more ordinary experience than many people believe. We will agree an approximate number of sessions, but to give you some idea of what's involved, I typically see clients on average for between 9 to 12 sessions on a weekly basis to begin with, although this is reduced as you progress through the sessions.

I will give you a complementary Relaxation CD to listen to between the sessions which will continue to support the work we do together.  Please note hypnosis is not offered as part of this Initial Consultation.

Subsequent appointments last for 50-60 minutes and are completely tailored to you. We begin by reviewing how things have been since our last session, with particular emphasis on things that have gone well. We review how the mind works as a prelude to Solution Focused questions designed to elicit positive responses. This is a pivotal part of the therapy and is also the part where the client has to work the hardest! This is followed by hypnosis, which most people find very relaxing, and is designed to consolidate the therapeutic work.

Smoking cessation lasts up to two hours and the Initial Consultation is included as part of this session. Full client commitment is essential and willpower is required.

I offer a range of appointment times and my current fees are as follows:

Initial Consultation and follow up session fees                                  £60

Fees are to be settled at the end of each session by BACS Transfer. Fees are subject to change so please refer to my website for the up to date session fee.

NB: Please note I require 48 hours notice for cancelled appointments and reserve the right to charge the full session fee outside of this notice period, and for missed appointments.

When I work

Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm
