Hello, I am john Sackett, a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist, hypnotherapy supervisor, counsellor and psychotherapist, running a private practice with my wife Joy Wood in Bournemouth.
My interest in hypnotherapy was ignited was first ignited when my daughter sought treatment for her fear of spiders. I had tried, unsuccessfully to convince her that spiders were harmless for over twenty years and was astounded that someone could completely cure her in just three, one hour sessions. I just had to learn more about it!
I had long believed in the healing power of the mind and when I started to study hypnotherapy, a lot of things seemed to fall into place. I was totally absorbed by the many different methods that can be used to treat such a wide variety of problems that could affect any one of us at some time in our lives.
After gaining my diploma, it seemed a natural progression to study counselling as a way to further my knowledge and skills in this fascinating field and it soon became apparent to me that the two separate disciplines could be so much more effective when combined.
I still enjoy learning new methods of treatment and have always attended many CPD courses to further add to my knowledge and skills. I have latterly qualified as a hypnotherapy supervisor enabling me to share my experience with other therapists, helping to support and guide them in their own practice.

Current charges for treatment start at £35 for an initial session of 60 to 75 minutes when a full assessment will be conducted and the suggested treatment methods discussed and explained. For hypnotherapy, this will also include a short relaxation session for you to experience how good it can make you feel.
Following sessions are £55 for hypnotherapy and £45 for counselling.
We have also developed our own 'smoking cessation' program which is an initial session of two hours and a one hour follow up session to deal with lifestyle changes, cravings etc. The cost for this is £145 and must be booked a week in advance.
Individual hypnotherapy supervision is charged at £55 per hour, with reduced costs for small groups, dependent on the number of people attending.

My background in the Ambulance service has led to a special interest in pain management and how hypnotherapy can be used in tandem with medical treatment to help both sufferers and their carers to accept and take control of their situation, improving their quality of life.
Due to the reason I was initially led to hypnotherapy (see above), I also specialize in fears and phobias, and my work at Forest Holme has enhanced my skills in bereavement, grief and loss.
