About me

Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in Helston with Jo Rogers

I am able to help people, just like you, make changes and regain control and that peace of mind that everyone is searching for, enabling a calmer, happier more empowered you. I achieve this through using the most powerful, unique, up to date forms of therapy today.

I offer a warm, safe, confidential environment in which to help you to overcome fears and phobias, addictions, depression and solve anxiety related symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, panic attacks, stuttering, anxiety, stress, compulsions, obsessions, weight loss, smoking and many more.

It is fascinating how the emotional brain has an impact on body and mind; affecting behavioral, physical and emotional symptoms. Hypnotherapy is a wonderful, relaxing way to access the emotional brain and help create those changes that you desire. You will find relief from a few sessions of wonderfully relaxing hypnotherapy which are bespoke to each individual person.

There are many forms of psychotherapy, I use coherence therapy with my clients which is a relaxing, talking therapy which helps you to remove your unwanted symptoms, emotions and behaviors at their root cause, therefore, there is no need to manage your symptoms, they are simply gone. This therapy uses the steps of the memory re-consolidation process which neuroscientists discovered in 2004, it is a neuro-plasticity that is capable of removing emotional memory that is at the root cause of your problem. A very powerful therapy.

I am also trained to help solve children's problems such as bed wetting, fears and anxieties, low self-esteem, eating disorders, hair pulling, anger and behavioural problems, exam stress and other emotional issues.

It is important to consult a G.P before undertaking any alternative therapy.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Testimonials

* The biggest secret is to not "go there" in terms of panicking and thinking
here we go again!!! After years of sleep issues with my son, I decided to give hypnotherapy a
go. I was recommended Ms Rogers by a fellow mum from the school playground
and so I made my consultation appointment.  This process was revealing and
the underlying issues that surrounded my sons sleep were revealed. Through
the session my son was happy to share information and I learnt a lot from
it too.
When we went for the actual hypnotism session, I had to be present due to
My son being a minor I engaged with the session too. This meant I picked up
some "relaxing" hints and tips to use at bedtime. My anxiety over the sleep issue also lessened.

I can honestly say that bedtime has improved so much, we have had the odd
night where settling has been tricky but overall I would say we are
handling it so much better and with a ninety five per cent success level everyone
in the family has benefitted from the hypnotism.
Professional, friendly and very calming I would recommend Ms Rogers to any parent who is struggling.

* I originally undertook Thrive with Johanna with the intention of losing weight. I have found that this has given me so much more than I expected. It has enabled me to take back control of my life, given me confidence and helped me to see what is really important. I now feel much calmer and satisfied both at home and at work.

* Hi Jo,

Quick update on my weightloss progress since returning to school.

So despite my worry, donuts, cakes and biscuits have proved no challenge for me, and I have actually avoided ALL sweet things at school this term, and we are 4 weeks in! Weight wise, I am 11 lbs down since we first met. Everything is great - I am enjoying eating and craving healthy food, eating a lot less and feeling like this is a very natural way to eat. I laugh inside to myself when I hear people rant on and on about calorie counting, but I doubt anyone will want to take advice from the fat girl....until she is no longer the fat girl that is! School is crazy - this is by far the worst time I can remember for being a teacher in state school. If I continue with my success, maybe I can make a new career helping people lose weight....you never know!?!??

Thanks for all your help, and the fact that I have not felt the need to see you again is a testament to your expertise!

Best regards,

Further information

What is Clinical Hypnosis?

When most people think about Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy, or when it is reported in the press they are almost always referring to “clinical Hypnosis”. (Also known as “suggestion Therapy”).

Clinical Hypnosis & Suggestion Therapy does exactly “what it says on the tin” in that clients are relaxed into a light to medium state of Hypnosis by the Hypnotherapist and whilst in this highly suggestible state are given a number of carefully worded suggestions designed to have an impact upon the symptoms that have been consulted for.

Along with positive suggestions you will be encouraged to use visualisation techniques to help you to tap into your powerful imagination known to influence your thoughts and feelings quite significantly. There is a well known saying in Psychological circles which states that “if you can’t imagine it, you can’t achieve it” and there is a lot of evidence to support this view.

It is these new strategies of visualisation and thinking that can have a very positive effect on the way that you feel and help you to deal with your Phobia or Worries in a new way.

Psychotherapy (Coherence Therapy)

Coherence Therapy is a new and highly developed form of Psychological Therapy that aims to help you “re-process” experiences (mostly past experiences) that may be causing you to behave in an unhelpful way in the present moment.

During our “formative years”, when our personality is developing, we may not “process” experiences in a particularly useful way leading to our thinking and beliefs becoming distorted or “skewed”. Often, if we experience something particularly difficult it can often become “trapped” in our minds leading to emotions and feelings that we can’t quite explain. The focus is on the limbic system, the parts of the brain that hold emotional memory rather than episodic memory. This explains associations with smells, songs, time of year eg This reminds me of ........or it will be the reason you suddenly feel sad or suddenly excited for apparently no reason.

Our emotional memory drives us to behave/think/ feel in particular ways; sometimes we want to block out unexplained emotional pain or anxiety, our bodies feel it but there is no reason for it, so we might turn to drugs or alcohol or become avoidant of certain situations, we might be phobic, some people have intrusive thoughts, pain such as fybromyalgia, self-harm or develop eating disorders; all of these can manifest as part of a recent trigger or be something that you have lived with for years.

Mind Set work

Mind set work is a unique training phenomenom that helps you, the trainee, understand yourself. When undertaking this conscious, cognitive approach you will gain a deep insight into the workings of your mind and be able to turn off any unhelpful thinking styles that could be causing and maintaining your symptoms.

The Blowaway Technique for Children’s problems

The blowaway technique is a very gentle and unobtrusive means of helping children deal with inner anxieties that can alter their development forever, and that they don’t have to suffer. All children must be no younger than seven, they must have a reasonable attention span, and must at all times be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.

The Blowaway Technique was developed specifically to help children with a number of problems. It will produce very positive results in a short space of time.

Building a unique trust and rapport with your child is the backbone of this safe and effective treatment. We speak to children in their language, so that they can easily understand the Hypnotic induction and child friendly metaphors used in "The Blowaway Technique."

The Hypno-Band Weight Loss System

The Hypno band process works by helping you to eat smaller portions of food and feel fuller for longer. Over the course of four sessions you will learn new eating habits using a combination of clinical hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy and your mind will be 're-programmed' to believe that your stomach is much smaller and therefore you will feel fuller quicker.
Unlike ordinary weight management approaches, the Hypno-Band system helps you to make internal changes to your relationship with food and by changing this relationship you can take control and stop yo-yo dieting.
