About me

I work with individuals, using solution-focused techniques, primarily from the fields of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Gestalt and Problem Solving Therapy.

We will agree your goals together and devise a treatment plan which is specifically tailored to your needs and consistent with your personal values and preferences.

I will explain the hypnotherapy process as we go along in detail, and I encourage you to participate fully in the process and ask questions if there is anything you don't understand.

I like to offer clients several techniques and coping skills and a toolbox of mindset personalities that they can use outside the therapy setting, and indeed this is encouraged as clients often find that these skills can then be used in all aspects of their everyday lives.

Practising at home in between our therapy sessions can be a key step towards achieving your goal. I will often suggest that you practice or carry out related tasks between the hypnosis sessions in order to build on what you've gained during the therapy sessions. This will increase the efficacy of the agreed treatment plan.

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and client and this is how I work in my sessions.

Where there may be physical causes of a condition (e.g. pain, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome), a medical diagnosis is required to confirm that this has been investigated. This will be required before any therapy can commence.

Training, qualifications & experience

Derek Fraser Crosson HPD, Dip Hyp, MNCH (Reg)

I studied and was taught by Adam Eason , who is a prolific author of Hypnotherapy audios and books and the highly successful The Science of Self Hypnosis, and who is also the director of the Anglo European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis (http://www.adam-eason.com). Here I achieved my HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma), considered to be the utmost standard in hypnotherapy training in the UK.

I am an evidence-based practitioner, which means I offer clinical hypnosis in ways that are supported by high-quality research.

I am a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and work to the NCH Code of Ethics and confidentiality policy. Please see the National Council for Hypnotherapy website for further details.

I hold a practitioners certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

I hold a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), successfully completing and qualifying as a hypnotherapist at the prestigious and highly respected Adam Eason School of Therapeutic Hypnosis.

I am also fully insured to practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

Additional information

Hypnotherapy session £140 (1 hour)

Please note that the first session with me will last approximately 1 hour which allows for a thorough and in depth assessment that allows me to get a really good idea of your desired outcome. Further sessions are of 1 hour duration.

I usually see clients for between 5 and 6 sessions, depending on what issue you have in particular, although everyone is different and may respond differently to therapy.

For more information please visit my web site...

Relax and Unwind session £50 (1 hour)

My 'Relax and Unwind' sessions are an ideal way to experience the benefits of deep relaxation and deal with the effects of every-day stresses, frustrations and worries.

Treatments requiring Longer Therapy

Sometimes, you might have an issue that will require regular sessions over an extended period of time such as helping you lose weight sensibly or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

For longer Therapy sessions I offer discounts on block session bookings paid in advance.
Please get in touch to discuss your needs, and how many sessions I think you may need to determine discount.

Appointments - How do I work?

To arrange an appointment, please call me on 07534 930265 to discuss your needs and to determine a suitable date and time for your session.

Prior to your first appointment, you will be sent a client intake form, which needs to be returned to me prior to your first session. This form will provide me with your basic details, and basic information about your issue or condition, in order that I can begin to devise an appropriate treatment plan. At our first session a more thorough and detailed assessment will be conducted.

When you come for your first session, it will last around 60 minutes. This will allow for a detailed assessment in order for me to gather all the information I need to really help understand your presenting problem. If you are completely new to hypnotherapy, we may also spend some time discussing exactly what hypnotherapy is, how it works, and what you, the client, can expect to experience. We will also practice some hypnotic skills training to show you that hypnosis is safe and fun!

Follow up sessions are normally around 60 minutes in duration.

How many sessions you will require really depends on your condition and how motivated you are to achieve your goals. Usually 4 to 6 sessions are needed, however for some things such as Phobias, they may require fewer sessions.

I provide email support in-between sessions for advice and to answer any questions that you may have, and to help keep you on track with your progress.

Appointments are conducted in my office at The Stratford Healthcare Centre in Stratford-on-Avon (directions are given on my web site). My office is on the first floor.
