My name is Claire Gilliam, and I am a fully qualified and insured hypnotherapist. I am also able to provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), with a particular emphasis on helping people to manage long term health conditions.
I have over twenty years of experience working in the NHS as a nurse, and therefore have an excellent understanding of health issues and conditions. I left nursing to study further at university and hold an MSc in Health Psychology, together with a diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. This means that I can help people to make positive changes in their lives, using a holistic approach based on the latest neuroscience and brain based research.
I also hold qualifications in pain management, and have extensive experience within this field. This has been gained by working in palliative care and supporting people with long term conditions, in particular helping those with Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, MS and Fibromyalgia. In addition, my research for my masters degree involved examining some of the other issues surrounding such illnesses such as invisible symptoms, body image and self esteem, all of which can be helped by hypnotherapy.
I also have certified teaching skills, which allows me to tailor therapy sessions to each individual, ensuring that every person gains the most benefit that they can from the knowledge and skills that I pass on to them. This means that everyone can move forward in their lives in a positive way, learning the tools that we all need to cope with life's challenges!
Hypnotherapy can help with many different issues/conditions such as smoking, phobias, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, depression, stress management, pain management and weight loss to name just a few!
CBT is concerned with how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are interconnected, and helps people to identify negative thought patterns that are disrupting their lives. Again, this is a collaborative approach that allows someone to make the positive changes of their choosing. This type of therapy is usually used to help those with depression and anxiety, although it is also helpful to those with long term conditions such as Fibromyalgia, MS and RA.
I am a registered member of the BPS, CNHC and the AfSFH, and abide by their strict terms and conditions, ethics and code of conduct.

I've had two hypnotherapy sessions now, and I think it's wonderful. Claire just 'gets me' and I feel totally supported. I'd thoroughly recommend her to anyone.
