After nearly 20 yrs in the legal profession, I returned to my original passion and retrained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. It was during this process that I realised that I could use hypnosis to manage my anxiety and irritable bowel symptoms, with great success!
I studied further and became a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist in 2015. This approach combines hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, and is more modern and scientific in it's approach. We advocate the use of evidence based techniques to help resolve client's issues.
This is a more common sense approach which rejects the notion of trance states and a separate subconscious mind. Rather hypnosis is a technique designed to focus a person’s mindset and imagination. Whilst in this focused state, the individual is susceptible to therapeutic suggestions, imagery and ideas which can be delivered in a way that helps elicit changes in perceptions, sensations, feelings, thoughts and behaviours in their everyday world and lead to certain desired responses, for example, feeling less anxious or creating behaviours to help the client lose weight.
I personally feel that this approach make it more accessible and goes some way towards stepping away from the common misconceptions regarding hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
I specialise in anxiety, anxiety-related issues, IBS and weight management but can help with lots of different issues.
I am a great advocate of self hypnosis techniques, which I teach all of my clients, and the fact that hypnosis is so effective and non-invasive.
I love talking about hypnotherapy so if you want to come in for a cuppa and a chat to see if I can help with your issue, please feel free to contact me.
