Stop smoking with hypnosis
There are advertising campaigns every year to highlight the dangers of smoking, but so many of us fail to ignore the dangers and carry on. Research has shown that there are 114,000 people that die from smoking related illnesses each year. Smoking can also cause cancer in many parts of the body and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Even passive smokers are at the same health risks as smokers, especially in regards to lung cancer and heart disease. Children are also at risk of passive smoking as their bodies are still developing - and by inhaling passive smoke, they can be at greater risk of chest infections, cot death or even sudden infant death syndrome.
There are many ways you can kick the habit of smoking i.e. through the use of nicotine gum and nicotine patches which are popular options, but the success rate is low. Medications such as bupropion and varenicline are intended for short-term use only and help to reduce the cravings of nicotine. Many individuals have tried acupuncture, behavioural therapy, motivational therapies and hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is one of the most popular options and has been the subject of many press articles with proven results. Hypnosis is one of the easiest and quickest ways to kick the habit with few side effects.
Some benefits of quitting smoking:
- You will save money
- You will no longer smell of stale tobacco
- The appearance of your skin and teeth will improve
- Improved fertility
- Better breathing
- Longer life
- You will feel much more healthy
When an individual has made the decision to stop smoking they may experience common fears such as weight gain as nicotine acts as an appetite suppressant. Other individuals fear they will become stressed as many smokers believe that when they light up it will help them to relax and de-stress. Others fear they will not have a social tool. There are many reasons why an individual will procrastinate giving up smoking.
Hypnotherapy is designed to take away the nicotine cravings, deal with any withdrawal symptoms and put an aversion in to stop you from smoking again. A hypnotherapist will take a thorough case history and discuss your treatment with you. Like with any treatments, there are no guarantees that you will stop smoking with hypnotherapy. Your therapist will discuss your commitment to stop smoking before your session. If you are quitting because a friend or family member is pushing you to stop, you may not get the results you want. With hypnotherapy you can kick the habit of smoking in just one session for most. Others may require a follow up session. The most important thing to remember is that an individual has got to want to stop smoking to achieve the desired results.
