Hypnotherapy & Positive Ways – A process to a calm, healthy and successful life
The process for having a fulfilling life involves tackling three core issues; becoming healed, getting clarity and then taking successful action.
Individuals can seek many ways in which to move through that process. Some will have had a solid childhood, adolescence, be working contentedly, have a happy family life and be planning for an active retirement. Sometimes, though, that does not happen for all individuals.
When potential clients feel stuck in their life progression they can choose from a range of responses and ways to approach the sense of being stuck. Some may do nothing and hope that they spontaneously recover and move on from that place; others can choose learning and development, which might involve being taught, coached, or therapy.
There are various forms that therapy and coaching can be undertaken, all of which can be effective; what matters is the flexibility of the approach and its ability to adapt to the unique needs and circumstances of the client.
Hypnotherapy provides not only that approach, but is both practical and effective and can be both brief solutions focused; or, if the client chooses the right therapist and requires it, can be a form of ongoing long term support too.
The process normally follows a format and covers a range of potential issues that the client may wish to address. Hypnotherapy has effective ways of bringing about:
1. Becoming healed (or getting healthy)
This phase normally involves addressing false coping mechanisms, such as addictions (alcohol, drugs and cigarettes etc) and also addressing eating habits and perhaps disorders in order to become that healthy and ideal weight that keeps the human body and mind healthy.
Being physically and mentally healthy also involves suitable exercise and hypnotherapy can help build the healthy motivation and patterns of behaviour that mean both healthy weight and exercise programs can be designed and applied without the “yo-yo” effect that so many individuals tend to experience,
Part of the healing process involves resolving traumas that may have occurred in an individual’s life. Trauma (and PTSD) is a large subject, which will be addressed in a following article; for now, the key thing to understand is that trauma can permeate into a our lives in many ways, sometimes taking us unawares, and can have an unnecessary negative impact on us. Very often that is experienced as inner conflict, which various hypnotherapeutic techniques can address.
Very often that internal conflict manifests into an individual’s life as depression (anger turned inwards) or conflict with others (anger turned outwards). Becoming healthy, as well as resolving past hurts, also involves developing newer healthier positive ways, using anger well and building harmony.
Lack of balance or harmony in our lives can lead to many forms of physical illnesses, many of which can have a large emotional aspect. This can include arthritis, asthma, constipation, diabetes, IBS, indigestion, headaches, and migraines. The body sometimes needs repair and the way in which an individual goes about preparing for operations, using pain management techniques and having positive ways in recovery are essential to speedy recovery and ongoing health. These positive ways include sensibly with issues surrounding terminal illness, such as coping with cancer. Hypnotherapeutic Counselling can provide that support.
It is understood that coping with life can be very stressful; the myth is that stress is bad, which is not always true, and learning how to minimise unnecessary stress and use healthy stress to an individual’s advantage can be learned. This includes learning how to sleep soundly, understanding the importance of sleep to a healthy physical and emotional life.
Not only will working with your dreams help you resolve outstanding and unprocessed emotional upset, but the deeper sleep also promotes healing at the cellular level. This leads to healthy organs and healthy skin. You will begin to look and feel beautiful!
2. Getting Clarity – (Thinking and Responding Calmly)
Outer beauty is normally reflected inwardly (and visa versa) when we are able build new skills quickly. Therefore, being able to concentrate, focus and be confident in studying and passing exams (of all kinds) is useful in supporting that personal development.
Very often, people who are or feel stuck will think that they have no need for personal development, or that it is too hard. That need not be so, since any sense of gently stretching ourselves will be healthy, grow self esteem and lead to a greater sense of clarity.
The sense that some have that they are not worthy or capable are often the results of negative thinking patterns. Such patterns can be changed by using the power of hypnosis to bypass the critical mind and update it. It is not unusual for constant negative through patterns to result in phobias (like agoraphobia, flying phobia, animal and claustrophobia). These kind of intrusive thoughts prevent clarity. Without clear thinking, responses can also result in unhelpful habits, normally coping mechanisms for anxiety.
Hypnotherapy helps individuals overcome anxiety by teaching relaxation techniques. This may be simple breathing techniques, mindfulness or self hypnosis and the empowering use of their clients own imagination (mental rehearsal is a skill we all use naturally, using it in positive ways is the key to good mental health).
Becoming calm enables emotional imbalances such as panic attacks or other anxiety related fears, such as of dental or medical treatment to be resolved. But even more is achievable too. From a calm place it is possible to begin to learn emotional intelligence, the ability to express oneself in an appropriate manner and to be able to actively listen. This not only diminishes frustration, but is the starting place for building rewarding relationships.
In essence, this means that the client is begging to learn how to plan and deliver responses that enhance their lives.
3. Successful Action – (by Performing Perfectly)
Once we know how to plan, rehearse and deliver positive ways or responses we are able to begin moving on with the goals in our life. This could range from wanting to be able to speak publicly, maybe act on stage or prepare for a wedding (and all the attendant stresses that can entail). Similarly, it might be that an individual wants to improve their sporting performance, such as swimming, golf or athletics. Hypnosis helps this process by drawing down on mental rehearsal skills and enabling you to get more easily “into the zone”.
That zone state is also the place in which we can start to hone the other areas of our life that we may wish to be successful in, say a career or business and this can mean building and planning a CV which you can present from. Hypnosis aids the confidence building and rehearsal skills for the pitch so that you can sell yourself fully in a job interview. Those skills also enable to develop your career, sensibly and confidently putting yourself forward for the roles that will bring you’re the position and reward you seek.
For some the performance they may wish to achieve is with their sex life. This might be to recover their libido or find ways to make their sex more fulfilling, confident or comfortable hypnosis can help.
