Fitness the easy way with hypnotherapy

If your gym membership card is languishing in your wallet or your fitness goals are transmitting a silent guilt trip, perhaps it is time to spring clean your unconscious attitudes to fitness.
The unconscious mind is not the teeniest bit interested in all the excellent reasons why you should become fit. If it worked like that, you, as a highly rational being, would not have any problems accessing your motivation. Deep down, at the subconscious and even unconscious levels, where motivation comes from, we are motivated by pleasure and repelled by pain. So if you are trying to reason yourself into your running shoes it will never work as long as you subconsciously associate being fit with misery, boredom or exhaustion. These unconscious powers will always supersede rational thinking.
In order to utilise the immense powers of the unconscious mind, it is essential to link being fit with sheer pleasure. Always picture yourself thrilled to be doing your chosen exercise with a huge smile on your face. The unconscious mind does not judge or evaluate, and will absorb the image as if it is already true.
Feeling sceptical? Well, these tremendous powers are why we can make ourselves very fearful picturing disaster scenarios, which will most likely never happen, as this part of the mind does not differentiate properly between what is real and what is only imagined. So why not capitalise on a terrific inborn capacity to accomplish something you so strongly desire.
Unlikely as it may sound, picturing yourself as already super fit and immersing yourself in praise is extremely motivating. So is recapturing and reliving in the mind the 'endorphin' moments when you felt tremendously good after exercise. Visualising and encouraging yourself will make a huge difference, especially if practised frequently.
These visualisations can be ramped up to even greater intensity by other techniques. If you watch a game, or see your favourite sportspeople talking about their approach to exercise regimes, create strong identification links in your mind about what they are saying with 'feel good' memories of your own.
