Does Hypnotherapy Work?
Does Hypnotherapy Work? ??
The general school of thought being that hypnotherapy is a last resort tool for weight loss, smoking cessation, phobias or changing habits. There is a limited knowledgeable awareness of hypnotherapy as a vital and dynamic healing process embracing all aspects of a person’s mental health care. Hypnotherapy is client-centered with its focus on the discovery of the person’s original issues/problems. Through the process of hypnotherapy/regression/NLP, the unconscious mind goes to the original cause, which then gives the person and practitioner the opportunity to process the original feelings surrounding the original experience/cause. These feelings enveloping the person can be healed, thus empowering the person to live their life to the fullest, the way they want to live.
A Comparison Study American Health Magazine (Psychotherapy Magazine, Vol 7, Number1, Alfred A Barrios. Phd) reported the following findings from a recent study:
• Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
• Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
• Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions
Hypnotherapy is proven to be an effective medium; though there is an attitude that is perpetuated on the plea that hypnotherapy has not had enough research. Hypnotherapy requires just few sessions and works more quickly than traditional talk-therapy or psychoanalysis. In a hypnotic state, you are more receptive to new ideas and you can more effectively process the emotions linked to the experiences, which created fear, pain, sadness, guilt, anger, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, shame and humiliation.
Hypnotherapy is a special form of communication to the subconscious/inner mind, where habits or behaviours are established and memory is stored. Because the language of the subconscious mind is visual, the more detailed your visual image is, the faster your subconscious mind will create the changes of habits/behaviours you desire. Once your subconscious accepts a new idea, you automatically accept it at a conscious level.
A person’s expectancy of Hypnotherapy as a useful therapeutic tool depends on their:
- Expectations regarding their own hypnotizability.
- Expectations regarding the general effect of hypnotherapy.
- Expectations regarding the specific effect of hypnotherapy on the presenting problem.
Hypnotherapy is a natural state of the mind that is between an awake and a sleep state. For Example: Day-dreaming while watching TV or driving a route you are familiar without being conscious of every turn made you make is similar to a hypnotic state. Hypnotherapy allows you to access your subconscious mind, which makes up 90% of your brain, which stores all memory. With hypnotherapy, you reprogram and release thought patterns and habits to make desirable, lasting changes in your life.
Now ask yourself why use Hypnotherapy as a healing tool?
- Because it empowers people.
- Helps people to focus.
- Helps in gaining new skills.
- Encourages people to define themselves as resourceful.
- Intensifies useful associations to different past situations.
- Provides experiential learning.
- Defines people as active managers of themselves.
In hypnotherapy, You are in control, it is completely relaxing and you are completely aware during the experience. A myth has been perpetuated from watching Stage Hypnotherapist on TV programs, that someone is making you do something. The hypnotherapist helps you connect with your subconscious mind, which puts YOU in control of your subconscious mind-the most powerful and empowering aspect of your brain. Hypnotherapy restores your freedom of choice, which you haven't had in many years!
Hypnotherapy is the best modality for those people who are otherwise healthy, but chained to non-useful beliefs that can affect mental and physical health.
