For the majority of people diets don’t work. The slimming industry is worth billions of pounds because they rely on repeat business. They are keen to show us their “success” stories but in reality it is a minority of people who lose weight through dieting and actually keep the weight off. Most people don’t reach their goal weight and end up putting the weight back on that they have lost.

So what’s the alternative? If we want to lose weight we have to go on a diet right?

What we eat, how we eat and why we eat are all controlled by us, our thoughts and beliefs. In order to change our eating habits we need to understand the link between our beliefs, thoughts and behaviour.

For instance, someone who believes that they cannot control their weight will behave differently to someone who doesn’t have that belief. The person who doesn’t believe they can be slim and healthy will lose motivation very quickly and give up on changes they have made to their eating habits. Every time that person goes on a diet that belief gets reinforced because diets are not effective for long-term weight loss and maintenance.

We can all control our weight if we are willing to examine our thoughts, and beliefs about ourselves and our relationship with food.

Getting support and encouragement from others is great, but you need to believe those positive messages in order for them to have any effect.

The Weight Control Programme is a training course split into eight 2-hour sessions. Each session will give you a greater understanding and awareness of your thoughts and beliefs and how they affect your life. You will be taught skills that will allow you to become the slimmer healthier person you really want to be but have only dreamed possible

The programme can be run for individuals or small groups and is available for both men and women.  It is based on tried and tested techniques which have been shown to be most effective for helping us to change our thoughts and behaviour. These techniques, once learned can last a lifetime.
