Yoga has experienced an upsurge in popularity over the past few years due to a heightened awareness that we need to look after ourselves and our body’s both physically and mentally.

Hyp-Yoga is the latest therapy craze to hit America, the aptly named therapy combines the power of hypnosis with regular yoga techniques.

Carol Yeh- Garner is the lady we have to thank for this innovative idea and she explains how it only seemed like a natural progression as during Yoga it is normal to already be in a light hypnotic state.

She added “For hypnosis in yoga, we bring that light state and (encourage) a deeper focus on ridding (the body and mind) of negative thoughts and negative energy.”

Most of her sessions are aimed at weight loss but are also beneficial for anyone wishing to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and balance of the mind.

A typical Hyp-Yoga routine involves repeating positive mantras about yourself as well as undertaking visualisation exercises during which participants picture their weight melting away whilst they are stretching and breathing.

Yeh-Garner stresses the importance of classes like these which help people to realise the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. A good workout also has the welcome side effect of boosting our happy hormones.

Ether way, hypnosis is a natural way to help you complete you grieving by ether unlocking whats stopping you or by helping you to move on.

Everyone will react to death in different ways and there is no right or wrong answer. Unfortunately the void left behind by someone close can be overwhelming and will send emotions into a frenzy that we don’t know how to control.

There are so many aspects to consider when mourning. Often people prolong the mourning period because they worry they will experience guilt for moving forward and letting go.

Hypnotherapy will help you to put things into perspective and will help you to take back control of your emotions.

Bad hair days for most people mean a few spilt ends, frizz, grease or lacklustre looking locks. Those suffering with alopecia however, have far more serious issues than a hairdryer on its last legs.

Alopecia is a condition in which stress causes patches of hair loss on the scalp, often resulting in a similar effect to that of a patient experiencing hair loss through chemotherapy.

With such a huge emphasis on looking outwardly beautiful these days, it is no wonder that Alopecia sufferers and those experiencing any kind of hair loss develop severe self esteem issues, which only causes the situation to escalate.

A study conducted in the International Journal Of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis about the effects of hypnosis when used for the treatment of Alopecia showed extremely positive results.

28 Alopecia patients took part in the study and were selected because they did not respond to traditional treatment. Twelve of the participants showed a significant improvement after hypnotherapy treatment, 4 of which suffered complete hair loss. As well as hypnotherapy for the purpose of hair regrowth, the group also had sessions which were intended to reduce stress and all subjects showed significant improvement with all experiencing lower symptoms of stress levels, anxiety and depression.

In this case, hypnotherapy is not only successful in promoting hair growth, but it is also a side effect free way of reducing stress and other symptoms of Alopecia.

Emotional eating refers to eating because of how we are feeling emotionally, regardless of our physical hunger. This could be triggered by anything from anger to sadness but often it can turn into an unwanted and difficult to shift habit.

We have all been guilty of emotional eating at some point. Who hasn’t come home from a horrible day at work or after a fight with our partners and looked to see what we can find in the fridge, our favourite ice cream perhaps or a big bar of chocolate. This is of course fine but only as long as we don’t get into the habit of doing it all the time.

It isn’t just emotional eating that is habit based, boredom also causes eating trends as many of us tend to eat because we have nothing else to do as opposed to eating when we are hungry.

However, if these little eating trends turn into habits, eating to cope with stress or to relax will soon start to make you feel guilty as we can see ourselves gorging on certain foods. This is what cause yo yo dieting and is the beginning of us depriving ourselves of certain foods.

In all these examples, it is the act of eating itself that becomes important, rather than thinking about enjoying the food we are eating. Habits of eating like this are negative and over time can lead to weight gain and other problems. This is why weight loss hypnotherapy can be so effective.

Hypnosis can help to break these habitual eating behaviours by retraining your mind to recognise what it really wants and by looking into reason why you could be eating this way. A hypnotherapist will help you to build up a positive set of habits and eating patterns and will also help you to use your imagination to visualise a happy, confident you who has a healthy relationship with food.
