I had a very bad fear of needles, it got so bad i did not go to the dentist for over four years. I did not believe that hypnosis would work for me when it was suggested to me from friends. One day I was in so much pain I would have tried anything to get rid of my fear, so i decided to try hypnosis and went with a friend.

I had two sessions and the next day I contacted my dentist for an appointment and now i go every six months for check ups.

Forensic Hypnosis is used successfully by police forces around the world in memory retrieval although as stand alone evidence, it has not lead to a conviction to date and may even be non-admissible as evidence in court.
As for hypnosis being used to achieve greater success for the police in gaining the truth well that’s yet to be established or may even be a misquote.
Quote "Putting people in a receptive brainwave state makes it likelier that the truth will come out.”
A hypnotised person is no more likely to lie than tell the truth when in a state of hypnosis and if someone is guilty of a crime and is willing to be hypnotized then I suggest the recipient’s motivation to not be convicted would help them to stay focused on lying than being hypnotised.
Hypnosis is a natural state of conscious awareness where the hypnotised become focused and in control throughout the process and one can come out of hypnosis if desired. It is the hypnotised that are in control, not the hypnotist.
Similar to other familiar conscious states of awareness such as when watching television when the mind is focus a TV programme, you become less aware of you surroundings and more aware of the TV programme, or when driving in a car, your mind drifts into these natural states of conscious awareness and the driving becomes automatic, on autopilot so to speak and on arriving at your destination, you question how you arrived there safely as you cannot remember the journey itself.
There is not a court in the world that would accept a statement or evidence retrieved in hypnosis, as the prosecution would counter argue that any evidence retrieved could have been influenced by the hypnotist and then we have other issues of leading questioning whilst in hypnosis, but that’s another story.
There have been numerous cases where hypnosis has been very useful in memory retrieval. A hypnotized witness has been known to recall an event such as a number plate viewed at a crime scene that previously they had found difficult to remember, but once again that alone is inefficient evidence but may lead to a person being traced and interviewed and additional information being obtained such as forensic evidence that may further leads to a conviction.
But it will be the additional evidence that convicts them, rather than the information retrieved whist in hypnosis.
It brings to mind a channel 4 interview with Uri Gellar, having been convinced that Michael Jackson was innocent because he said so under hypnosis, I don’t recall that being used as evidence, innocent or not.
Still as useful as hypnosis is, a prosecution lawyer so easily challenges obtained evidence under hypnosis.
And you attention should be drawn to the closing statement of PC Hughes adding: "Forensic hypnosis does not prove guilt but it can give new lines of inquiry when traditional methods have failed."
And so I say hypnosis is a very effective tool to use in many aspects of our daily lives but limited in the area of encouraging suspects and witnesses to tell the truth as stated in the article.
I hope this adds some balance
Respectfully

Hypnotherapy is definitely an option when dealing with phobias. However; all phobias are trigger which have been formed through a SEE (significant emotional event) i.e. screaming at spinder when we are young, parent shouting "don't cross the road" can bring about all kind of issues. So the very best way to deal with phobias is using NLP. The techniques are fast and very effective. The brain learns fast so do fast therapy.

As a midwife I can only emphasize how fantastic Natal Hypnotherapy can be at helping birth partners their incredibly important role in supporting and being an advocate for the birthing woman. A well prepared birth partner can make all the difference to the way in which a labour and birth progresses.
With regards to the birthing woman, those who have attended this course are more relaxed, calmer and more positive about their births. Definately recommended.

People think of hypnotherapy as something comics do on stage or if you want to stop smoking, but people do not understand the power of Hypnotherapy and how it can help with relationships, irritable bowel syndrome and even people suffering from fear
