It has emerged that only 15% of UK females and 12% of UK males who have tried to join the VIP group of adonises and aphrodites, ever make it onto the dating site.

Membership is granted to an elite few by existing members, who are given the opportunity to judge hopefuls over a 48 hour provisional period. Possible options are: ‘yes, definitely’, ‘hmmm yes, ok’, ‘hmmm no, not really’ and ‘NO definitely NOT’.

So far, Swedish men have proven the most attractive applicants, with a solid 65% of them making the grade.

Perhaps the secret’s in the bad weather, because Scandinavia appears to have the best track-record for rearing beautiful people, with Norwegian women topping the charts for most attractive in the world.

The site has rejected a total of 1.8 million people from 190 countries over the past 2 years- that’s an astounding 83% of all applicants.

Greg Hodge, managing director of the site, attributes the statistics to the idea that Brits take little care over their appearances, preferring instead to kick back with a few drinks in the pub.

“If you go to some countries they are very into how they look – very health and body conscious,” he said.

If you are one of the 85-88% of Brits who prefer a pint to a pedicure, you’re probably a lot happier in the pub than spending your Friday night judging the appearance of strangers on the internet. If, however, you are unhappy with how you look- whether ‘beautiful’, ‘average’ or downright British, then you may wish to work on your self-esteem.

Asperger Syndrome is characterized by repetitive behaviours or rituals, socially and emotionally inappropriate behaviour and interaction, preoccupation with a subject to the point of the exclusion of other activities and uncoordinated movements.

Many with Asperger’s will also experience anger and temper outbursts, usually as a result of intense anxiety. Many of the mentioned symptoms can be altered and controlled through the subconcious mind and hypnotherapy is a way of achieving this.

If anxiousness builds over time this will begin to cause a large amount of stress in the brain and often leads to a series of outbursts, tantrums, irritability and fear which could eventually overflow into other aspects of a persons life causing social alienation and what is often considered to be maladaptive behaviour.

Hypnotherapy is an effective tool for alleviating stress and anxiety by relaxing the mind and nervous system as well as providing many other positive effects such as increasing self esteem and effective thinking and helping to improve insomnia.

If you would like to discuss hypnotherapy options further then you can contact a hypnotherapist in your local area using the search tool located on the homepage of this site.

Self concept is a persons awareness of themselves and how they feel about their own personality and skills. Along with feelings in the present it can also refer to how we felt about ourselves in the past.

A number of recent studies have found hypnotherapy to have a hugely positive impact on a person’s self-concept, which has many potential benefits.

One particular study looked at whether hypnosis could have an effect on students self-concept and tested to see whether an improvement in self-concept would also result in an improved level of academic achievement. The participants were split into two groups with one group receiving hypnosis-induced mental training and the other who received no hypnosis.

Results showed that those who received the hypnosis induced mental training showed a huge improvement in terms of self-concept and academic improvement.

These results show that very simple hypnotherapy techniques can have a great impact on a persons life, not only improving the way people feel about themselves, but also improving their academic achievement.

World famous hypnotist Paul McKenna made an appearance on this mornings edition of GMTV (22nd July) with Lorraine Kelly’s stand in Fiona Phillips.

The self help guru to the stars was there to talk about his updated version of worldwide bestseller ‘Change your life in 7 days’ a self improvement book which teaches core strategies and techniques that will help the reader begin to think like a high achiever.

Fiona and Paul are old friends, going way back to when Fiona used to read the traffic on Paul’s radio show during his DJ days. He explained how even then he was interested in personal development, but at the time many people considered it to be ‘American psycho-babble’. In order to dispel these myths Paul went about creating simple easy strategies which anyone can use in order to master their emotions, to help them to make money, to help them improve their health, to help them be more positive and motivated etc.

The new revamped book includes a DVD session for each day of the week, which is what Paul believes makes it all the more successful and relevant in a technology centric society. He explains how the DVD is now a huge component as although people often read about psychological techniques they might find it difficult to understand what to do without instruction. The DVD allows him to pop out of their T.V or computer and get them into a positive state.

Purchase Change Your Life in 7 Days from the Paul Mckenna store.

Those in the other five percent happen to be extremely lucky as they are narrowly missing the troublesome symptoms with which the menopause comes hand in hand.

Hot flushes, sweats, sleeplessness, headaches and moodiness are to name but a few of the side effects and though Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a route that many women take to reduce symptoms, hypnotherapy is a far more natural option that should be considered.

Hypnotherapy operates on both a conscious and unconscious level so is an excellent tool for providing beneficial mind, body treatment. Some common examples of symptoms which see an improvement using hypnotherapy include hot flushers, shivers, sweats, loss of libido, sleeplessness, dry skin, joint pain, headaches, mood swings, weight and muscle pain.

With the UK having one of the highest self-harm rates in Europe questions are being raised about the quality of health care available to them.

In a self-harm report conducted by the Royal College of Psychiatrists over half of the 1,500 members surveyed felt they or their team did not have sufficient training to assess people who had harmed themselves.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists have criticised the NHS for the lack of training on self-harm and have made a series of recommendations to improve the standard of care given to people at risk of suicide and self-harm. The key point raised was that more funding, research and training are needed as all elements are essential to a good support system for those who self-harm.

Whilst there has been a reduction in the number of suicides in recent decades, the number of people self-harming in the UK is still continuing to rise with figures currently standing at four in every 1,000 people self-harming.

Though we tend to associated self-harm with adolescence and young adulthood it can occur at any age, even in the elderly population. The motivations vary but often it is used as a coping mechanism which provides a temporary relief from trauma such as emotional or sexual abuse or as an escape from distressing feelings such as depression, failure, self loathing and anxiety.

There are numerous methods which can be used to treat self-harm, some of which employ the use of antidepressants and others which look to treat the underlying causes and the behaviour itself.

One possible treatment option worth considering is Hypnotherapy. Whatever hypnotherapy is dealing with the key aims remain the same, one of which is accessing the subconscious to find the source of the problem. In the case of self-harm this may be anxiety or perhaps the memory of a trauma and whatever the route cause of the issue hypnosis will work at eliminating this.

Body dysmorphic disorder is a chronic illness which characteristicly sees its sufferers preoccupied by a minor defect, feature or body part.

This obsession often leads to problems with social functioning as the patient will view themselves as loathsome. The disorder differs from eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa due to the latter being focused on overall bodyweight.

Treatment would usually involve psychotherapy, psychotropic medication, selective serotonin inhibitors and cognitive-behavioural hypnotherapy which has been found to have very positive results.

What is Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy?

CBH combines hypnotherapy with the concepts and techniques of cognitive-behavioural therapy. The aim of CBT is to help you change your negative cognitions and thoughts about yourself into positive ones. A cognitive behavioural therapist also helps you to adopt new behaviours which will help you to deal with any issues which may arise in the future.

The combination of CBT and hypnotherapy produces more efficient results than ether on their own and many studies conducted on the effectiveness has found that it is one of the most evidential based therapies and as a result of this strong evidence the NHS has adopted CBH as a treatment for certain psychological disorders including body dysmorphic disorder.

A number of Bristol mothers to be are turning to hypnotherapy to help them eliminate bad habits before the birth of their baby.

Many of them hope the therapy will help them to quit smoking and cut down their alcohol intake as well as learning to cope with the stress a new family member can bring.

Recent findings show that the amount of mums to be seeking hypnotherapy has doubled over the past 12 months, which could be a reflection of growing awareness among new parents about their children’s health.

If this problem has resulted in low self confidence and anxiety then it may be time to get serious about tackling it. It is a relatively rare issue but there are ways of reducing it.

Many people suffering from excessive sweating have reported positive results from botox, it may seem a little unconventional to have this in your arm pits but it does work a dream for paralysing sweat glands.

Other treatments include products with a high Aluminium Chloride content. Though this compound already appears in most deodorants already unfortunately the amount is minute. Visit your GP and they may be able to prescribe you product with a higher content.

Both viable and relatively effective solutions but botox is a little pricy and tracking down aluminium chloride is a challenge. However, another option worth serious consideration is hypnotherapy.

Although excessive is a physical issue it is actually very much fuelled by your mind. Anxiety and embarrassment of the problem only further it and make it worse.

Hypnotherapy aims to delve into the depths of your mind to find the route of the anxiety before erasing it. Those negative fears which fuel the sweating will be replaced by positive thoughts and suggestions.

Each month Hypnotherapy Directory receives numerous visitors to our site, perhaps simply to peruse the news and helpful articles section or maybe they want to seek help from a professional for a specific issue. Ether way the directory is able to keep track of what our visitors are searching for each month.

Throughout April 16% of the searches performed were for ‘weight loss’ 8% for ‘smoking’ 7% for ‘anxiety’ 6% for ‘phobias’ and 5% for ‘low self confidence’. Of course there were many other searches performed but the above are the five most searched for terms and give a good idea of the types of issues people believe can benefit from hypnotherapy.

By taking a look at the keyword searches we are able to see which areas of Hypnotherapy are most in demand and we can therefor make sure the right information is easily accessible and readily available to anyone visiting the site.
