World famous hypnotherapist Paul McKenna has recently released a new book, entitled I Can Make You Happy, which features some simple but effective advice on how to increase your mood.

One technique which McKenna discusses is that of using the power of language to boost our mood, which involves giving more consideration to the words we use.

The language we use can actually have a huge affect on our experience, as using a lot of negative language can be extremely limiting, shutting the door to any positive possibilities.

Somebody who frequently says ‘everything always goes wrong for me’ or ‘I’m so unlucky’, though they may be having a bad day are saying things which aren’t true.

If someone is constantly using negative phrases such as the above then they are very unlikely to notice all of the happy moments in their lives.

If you have got into the habit of being constantly derogatory about yourself then here are some tips from Paul McKenna which will help to make room for more happiness in your language:

Look out for words such as can’t, nothing, always, only, every, no one and never.

If you become aware that you are using these words or if you hear yourself saying any of them, repeat the sentence in your head and notice that it makes you feel bad or limited.

If this is the case then try to change a general statement into a particular one. For example, ‘everything always goes wrong for me’ could be ‘my car broke down this morning’.

Now, ensure there is room for a positive outcome to what you have just said. For example: ‘I’ll get the car fixed at the weekend to ensure this doesn’t happen again’.

If you would like to read the original article for more tips please click here

A professional hypnotherapist explains to the Times of India why he feels hypnotherapy is such a powerful and effective therapy.

It would be unusual to meet someone who isn’t feeling pressure in at least one aspect of their life, whether it be over what to cook for that evenings dinner right through to the stress of an interview or looming presentation.

But is there a way we can eliminate these stresses and strains?

Dr Sajan Galani is an Indonesia-born Mumbai-based hypnotherapist and he believes that his profession is a highly successful way of getting rid of these problems.

“Hypnotherapy is a harmless method with no side effects. I call it confluence of alternative healing,”

Galani went onto explain how thought there are many different method used to cleanse emotional junk and hypnotherapy is one of the easiest.

Galani often conducts hypnotherapy workshops and describes his technique as one that is carried out in two stages. ”The patient comes and describes the behaviour, which he wants to be altered. Root cause analysis is done and the problem is disassociated in the altered state. To illustrate it in a metaphor, it is like dealing with specific files in the hard disc of your personal computer.”

“It can help by resolving non-communicated anger, resentment or any negative feeling against an event, individual or even self. Most important, it has the ability to resolve your conditioning from the past experience, to enable you to be free to create a new future, said Galani.

For more information about the different kinds of hypnotherapy please browse the Hypnotherapy Areas section of this site and to contact a qualified hypnotherapist in your local area please use the search tool located on the homepage.

A Weight Watcher’s website recently brought the topic of office feeders into the limelight, with an entire discussion board dedicated to that colleague who constantly supply’s cake, biscuits and all things calorific.

Brian Wansink is an eating behaviourist who is director of nutritional science at Cornell University. In a recent study he found that female secretaries ate 5.6 times more chocolates if they were placed on a nearby desk than if they has to physically stand up and walk a few metres to get to them.

An additional experiment interestingly revealed that office workers positioned near to glass dishes full of sweets ate 71 per cent more a day than those who sat near white opaque dishes filled with the same sweets.

Wansink reveals that when two women are brought together they tend to mimic each others eating habits and also reports that we eat 30 per cent more calories in company than we do alone.

So what drives the office feeders to fatten up others?

Susan Ringwood from eating disorder charity Beat has said the habit is likely to be caused by them having an unhealthy relationship with food themselves.

‘It is often assumed that people with eating disorders such as anorexia are not interested in food and don’t feel hungry. But, in fact, the opposite is true,’ Ringwood says.

If you find yourself constantly picking and nibbling on snacks and treats whilst in the office and are concerned your habit might be sliding out of control then a great option is that of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy has long since been used as a method of eliminating bad habits.

The therapy works through many techniques, one of which is retraining your unconscious mind to react to stimuli in a different way. For instance at the office when you are bored, a built in reaction may be to reach for this biscuit tin. A hypnotherapist could help to retrain the mind so next time boredom sets in you’ll be reaching for a glass of water.

If you would like more information on weight-loss hypnotherapy or any type of hypnotherapy more information can be found in the hypnotherapy areas section of this site.

The former heads of the complementary medicine charity which was set up and headed by the Prince of Wales, have now joined forces to launch a college which promotes and supports the use of integrated treatment in the NHS.

After the recent closure of the Foundation of Integrated Health, its four senior officials have set up a course which they hope will raise support for holistic medicine.

Integrated treatment is said to benefit patients because it accounts for their beliefs and helps them to take control of and manage their own health.

A slide show for the College of Integrated described it as “a new strategy to take forward the vision of HRH Prince Charles” and “The evolution of his Foundation for Integrated Health’s work to date”.

Recently a group of medical researchers conducted a small case study which examined the use of self hypnosis to control tics in Tourette’s patients.

The study, which was later published in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, involved a group of thirty-three Tourette’s patients between the ages of six and 19.

The participants viewed a video featuring a boy of their age outlining self-hypnosis techniques which they were to practice and learn alongside a set of relaxation techniques at least three times a day. Alongside this researches also ran hypnotherapy sessions for a period of two and a half months and they also asked that participants focussed on the feeling occurring prior to a tic as well as getting rid of the tic.

After the trial period was over twelve subjects had experienced a dramatic improvement after only two sessions and the video training. Thirteen experienced the same results but after three sessions, and one participant after four sessions.

Study leader Dr. Lazarus believes the study highlights how self-hypnosis presents many benefits over traditional drug therapy, including no side effects and reduced cost.

Excessive sweating is a rather embarrassing affair and unfortunately is not a problem solved simply by changing your antiperspirant.

If this problem has resulted in low self confidence and anxiety then it may be time to get serious about tackling it. It is a relatively rare issue but there are ways of reducing it.

Many people suffering from excessive sweating have reported positive results from botox, it may seem a little unconventional to have this in your arm pits but it does work a dream for paralysing sweat glands.

Other treatments include products with a high Aluminium Chloride content. Though this compound already appears in most deodorants already unfortunately the amount is minute. Visit your GP and they may be able to prescribe you product with a higher content.

Both viable and relatively effective solutions but botox is a little pricy and tracking down aluminium chloride is a challenge. However, another option worth serious consideration is hypnotherapy.

Although excessive is a physical issue it is actually very much fuelled by your mind. Anxiety and embarrassment of the problem only further it and make it worse.

Hypnotherapy aims to delve into the depths of your mind to find the route of the anxiety before erasing it. Those negative fears which fuel the sweating will be replaced by positive thoughts and suggestions.

According to statistics around one in three of us struggle with anxiety over our financial debts. Additionally almost one in three of us choose to hide this fact from our loved ones.

Hidden debt can eventually lead to serious emotional and physical issues and the inability to share this with family and friends will often lead to stress, insomnia and other symptoms of anxiety.

Average personal debt in the U.K currently stands at £9,731.51 which excludes mortgages, though most of us only own up to half of this if discussing with a partner or family member.

One in five try to keep their debt from their partner and 78% have never confessed the true extent of their debt to a loved one.

Alternative therapies such as hypnotherapy or other types of treatment could be a life line for those struggling with serious debt. It deals with the route of the problem and works at eliminating negative thoughts and symptoms and replaces them with positive thoughts instead.

Hyp-Yoga is the latest therapy craze to hit America, the aptly named therapy combines the power of hypnosis with regular yoga techniques.

Carol Yeh- Garner is the lady we have to thank for this innovative idea and she explains how it only seemed like a natural progression as during Yoga it is normal to already be in a light hypnotic state.

She added “For hypnosis in yoga, we bring that light state and (encourage) a deeper focus on ridding (the body and mind) of negative thoughts and negative energy.”

Most of her sessions are aimed at weight loss but are also beneficial for anyone wishing to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and balance of the mind.

A typical Hyp-Yoga routine involves repeating positive mantras about yourself as well as undertaking visualisation exercises during which participants picture their weight melting away whilst they are stretching and breathing.

Yeh-Garner stresses the importance of classes like these which help people to realise the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. A good workout also has the welcome side effect of boosting our happy hormones.
