Large waistlines among women could increase the risk of certain cancers
The recently published Health Survey for England which is commissioned by the Department of Health for the purpose of monitoring England’s health, has revealed that expanding waistlines of British women could mean an increased risk of certain cancers.
The study, which contains various information and statistics about obesity has found that the average waist circumference of British women has increased.
The figures from the recent study suggest that 44 per cent of women have a waist which exceeds 31.5 inches (80cm), leaving them at a higher risk of developing certain forms of cancer.
In the past, various scientific studies have revealed that excess body fat increases cancer risk and the World Cancer Research fund says that evidence is strong that a large waistline is particularly harmful and could mean a higher risk of bowel, pancreatic, breast and women lining cancers.
