UK women are the worlds worst dieters

A recent study of 1,534 British women has revealed that 86 per cent of women who have been on a diet in the past 12 months have failed to lose any long term weight.

These results show that women in the UK are actually less successful in their dieting endeavours than even the worlds most overweight country, the United States.

The study also found that 34 per cent of UK women had gained pounds since last year, half of the women questioned admitted to only exercising three hours per week (the minimum advised is 30 minutes per day) and women in the UK are also the most likely to eat in front of the television than any other nation surveyed.

Again, Britain trumped even America where only 29 per cent eat in front of the TV compared to our 37 per cent.

Obesity is now a huge problem in the UK which is only continuing to worsen. Back in 1980 only six per cent of British men and eight per cent of women were obese. Twenty years down the line and 22 per cent of men and 23 per cent of women are obese. Experts expect this figure to continue rising and have predicted that by 2020 around one third of adults and half all children will be obese.
