Loosing weight before next pregnancy ‘reduces risks’
Researchers have found that mothers who do not loose post pregnancy weight, even as little as one or two pounds, stand a higher risk of problems in their next pregnancy, reports the Guardian.
Experts are advising women to loose all their baby weight before getting pregnant again, otherwise they face an increased risk of complications in future pregnancies.
The advise also warns mothers-to-be against ‘eating for two’ as this is simply a myth which could result in unnecessary weight gain which they may find difficult to shift post baby.
It is true that a woman’s energy needs increase in the last three months of pregnancy, but even then the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Nice) has only advised an extra 200 calories a day.
Statistics now suggest that between 15 and 20 percent of women are getting pregnant whilst overweight or obese, the latter of which is said to have doubled in the past 20 years.
If you are considering starting a family but are overweight or obese, or if you are finding it difficult to shift your post baby weight and feel like you need extra help then an option worth considering is weight loss hypnotherapy.
A qualified hypnotherapist can help you to identify what is causing your attitude to food before accessing the subconscious mind to change this. This can be done using various techniques, which will be chosen and tailored specifically to you and could range from visualisation techniques right through to Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which will aim to change any negative patterns of behaviour.
If you would like to contact a hypnotherapist to find out if this is a suitable option for you then you can contact a qualified professional in your local area by using the search tool on the homepage of this site.
