Six steps to take you closer to achieving your goals

‘Establishing a Well Formed Outcome’ is a well known exercise performed by many Neuro Linguistic Programmers (NLP) and essentially means creating an outcome which meets all the criteria of a well thought out end result.

This can be achieved in six steps which are listed below:

1.The first step is to clearly state what it is you want and do not become preoccupied with thinking about what you don’t want. For instance instead of stating you don’t want to put on any more weight, state the weight you wish to achieve.

2.Establish whether or not this goal is possible. If your goal was going travelling around the world starting from tomorrow then you may have to rethink your schedule and make it more practical.

3.Determine what you already have to achieve your goal and then think about what you need, for example time, money, coaching etc.

4.What obstacles may you face? Think about how your decision may effect the people around you. For example if it has always been your dream to open your own tea rooms will you have to quit your current job? Will you have to borrow money? How will this effect your relationship with your family?

5.Imagine yourself as having achieved your goal and consider whether the image fits. Do you like what you see?

6.Formulate a plan of action. This is the final step. Take into consideration everything you have worked out from the above steps and then plan out a comprehensive goal of how you are going to achieve it.
