Could hypnotherapy help dementia sufferers?
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Liverpool has suggested that those suffering from dementia could improve their quality of life with hypnotherapy.
The Daily Mail has reported that hypnotherapy can reduce dementia symptoms and improve quality of life for sufferers. Forensic psychologist Dr Simon Duff investigated the effects of hypnotherapy on dementia sufferers and compared the results with those of patients receiving conventional health care methods and with those receiving group therapy.
The results showed that hypnotherapy helped dementia sufferers to retain mental focus in comparison to those only receiving standard treatment. The hypnotherapy patients also exhibited an improvement in concentration, memory, socialisation, relaxation, motivation and daily living activities.
