Hypnotherapy meets Yoga

Yoga has experienced an upsurge in popularity over the past few years due to a heightened awareness that we need to look after ourselves and our body’s both physically and mentally.

Hyp-Yoga is the latest therapy craze to hit America, the aptly named therapy combines the power of hypnosis with regular yoga techniques.

Carol Yeh- Garner is the lady we have to thank for this innovative idea and she explains how it only seemed like a natural progression as during Yoga it is normal to already be in a light hypnotic state.

She added “For hypnosis in yoga, we bring that light state and (encourage) a deeper focus on ridding (the body and mind) of negative thoughts and negative energy.”

Most of her sessions are aimed at weight loss but are also beneficial for anyone wishing to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and balance of the mind.

A typical Hyp-Yoga routine involves repeating positive mantras about yourself as well as undertaking visualisation exercises during which participants picture their weight melting away whilst they are stretching and breathing.

Yeh-Garner stresses the importance of classes like these which help people to realise the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. A good workout also has the welcome side effect of boosting our happy hormones.
