Australian zoo offers hypnotherapy to those with reptile fears
A fear of reptiles may be something that many Brits find it difficult to contemplate, but encounters with slimy scaly creatures are far more frequent for those across the pond.
A zoo in Australia is now offering hypnotherapy to those who run a mile at the site of any of its cold blooded residents.
Warrick Angus is manager of the lizard house and says that he began the course after the success of a previous phobia cure programme which he ran to deal with the fear of spiders.
During the phobia treatment sessions the participants all get involved in a group discussion before then undergoing hypnotherapy and neuro linguistic programming to help them overcome their fear of reptiles.
After they have participated they are then thrown in at the deep end and given the opportunity to put their new found bravery to the test by handling small snakes and lizards before moving onto the intimidating olive python.
If you have a longstanding phobia that you would like to erase then hypnotherapy is a tool which could be a great help to you. If you would like to discuss a phobia you have with a qualified professional you can do so by visiting the homepage of this site and searching for a hypnotherapist in your local area.
