Hypnosis eases Arthritis pain
According to research hypnotherapy could be valuable in reducing pain for those suffering from Arthritis reports The Telegraph.
Arthritis is a chronic condition causing inflammation of the joints, rendering some patients severely disabled and unable to go about their everyday lives without discomfort.
Despite multiple treatments that can alleviate some of the symptoms, many patients still experience high levels of pain.
In a study conducted by Bangor University Wales, 42 patients were asked to visualise their pain in different ways and try to manage it. One of the techniques involves participants visualising their pain as a person and then thanking that person for letting them know something wasn’t right. They would then request that the person leaves, picturing their image moving further and further away, into the distance until it disappeared, leaving them free of pain.
The results were very positive and indicated that imagery and hypnotherapy techniques were effective at reducing pain cause by arthritis.
