New weight loss drug available in the UK

New weight loss drug alli went on sale in the UK this week, the first weight loss drug to be available without prescription, reports the Telegraph.

Alli aids weight loss by increasing the loss by up to 50% for every pound lost through healthy eating and exercise. Therefore, losing 2 pounds a week is increased to 3 by taking alli.

Although no prescription is required to obtain the drug, anyone wishing to buy it must undergo a brief consultation with the pharmacist first, to ensure they’re suitable. Alli is only available to adults (over 18) with a BMI of 28 or over.

However, it is being highlighted that alli is not a ‘magic pill’, and will only work in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle and eating well.
