New drinking guidelines

Chief Medical Officer Liam Donaldson today announced that children under 15 should not drink alcohol at all, reports The Times.

The decision has been met with much criticism, with some saying not allowing children to drink at a younger age makes it more attractive to them, and may mean that parents do not discuss the effects of alcohol with their children.

The new guidelines also advised that anyone who looks under 21 should be asked for ID when buying alcohol to try and crack down on under age drinking.

With binge drinking becoming an increasing problem for parents, it’s hoped the guidelines will help them educate their children on safe drinking habits.
