Science proves it's harder for women to lose weight

A study has shown that it’s scientifically harder for women to lose weight than men, reports The Independent.

The research shows that mean are more able to control their food cravings, and over a 3 month period men are able to lose 10% of their weight, whereas women only managed 5%.

By monitoring brain activity, scientists exposed participants to food such as pizza, cake and hamburgers, and the motivation area of the brain ‘lit up’. However, when asked to suppress their cravings, it was only men who showed a reduction in brain activity, and the womens continued to show that they were driven to eat.

This may explain why women have a tendency to over eat more, and why dieting can be such a struggle.
