Small weight increase can amount to big problems

Even being slightly overweight can increase the risk of heart disease, reports The Telegraph.

Over 21,000 male doctors were tracked by researchers for a period of time, and the study found that for those who gained around half a stone, their risk of experiencing heart failure over the next 20 years would go up by 11%.

Exercise and a healthy lifestyle is the best way to reduce the risk of heart disease, and this was proven in those who were healthy and obese. However, those with a body mass index (BMI) in the obese category were more likely to contract heart disease than those in the overweight or healthy categories.
