Christmas survival tips for couples

An article over on The Guardian today offers advice for couples on how to get through the Christmas period without falling out. It’s been predicted that the first week in January will be a busy one for divorce lawyers, particularly this year with the added pressures of uncertain jobs and money worries.

With couples counselling already on the rise, it’s feared Christmas could tip many couples over the edge, resulting in a permanent separation.

Vanessa Lloyd Platt, a high profile divorce lawyer says: “Christmas is loaded with the deeper messages from childhood, the sense that things ‘should’ be a certain way,” says Hall. “You might be fighting over how to cook the turkey, but be unable to see the underlying cause.” A trained counsellor can help unravel these issues.”
